About Us
Q Byrd Law was established in 2018 with a clear goal: providing quality representation to those who might not otherwise be able to afford it. The firm seeks to take on worthy cases and find creative ways for costs to not get in the way.
If you want lawyers that tell you what you want to hear, this is not the firm for you. Q Byrd Law prides itself in talking itself out of money — meaning honesty with clients when they do not have a strong case. Successful attorney-client relationships are built on trust. With transparency, and the knowledge that the firm will not take a case unless it believes there are strong legal grounds, clients can rest easy knowing that Q Byrd Law is on the case.
“Together we can do better; together we can do greater.”
The firm’s mottoThis motto is not only applicable to society; it is part of the firm’s DNA. Q Byrd Law takes a collaborative approach to the practice of law. It’s a common saying at the firm that we are the masters of the law, but the client is the master of the facts. When clients are forthcoming and clear on the facts, and the firm does its part on legal arguments and strategy, positive results are much more likely. This is also one of the ways the firm keeps costs down — clients are welcome to participate in appropriate tasks in their own case, like organizing documents, rather than paying hourly rates for work they’re able to do themselves.
Attorney Quintin Byrd
Behind the firm’s approach is its founder, Attorney Quintin Byrd.
Attorney Byrd received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies, with a concentration in Rhetoric and a minor in Religious Studies, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008. He graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2012, where he was part of the school’s Law Review. His experience during law school ranged from interning at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, to what was then North Carolina’s largest law firm, to Legal Aid of North Carolina.
Upon graduation, Attorney Byrd clerked for the Honorable Samuel Ervin, IV at the North Carolina Court of Appeals, then spent time prosecuting criminal cases as an assistant district attorney before entering private practice. That range of experience — appellate, prosecutorial, and private practice — is what led him to start a firm built around trust, honesty, and creative access to representation.

Q Byrd Law has been a proud supporter of Haven House Services, and has supported the WakeMed Foundation, specifically its Sisters Circle of Black Doctors initiative. The firm has also supported the Wake County Bar Association’s Clothing Drive.
